A radio station in Sydney, Australia, KIIS 1065, did something amazing for a mother named Michelle who just recently lost her son Blaine, due to a fatal work related accident on December 1, 2014.
Blaine was said to have been a very passionate, loving and kind son and brother to his other three siblings. He was a very talented rugby player who played for an under 20 team named the Dragons which Michelle was very proud of. Blaine was just 19-years-old when he passed away.
Blaine often helped his mom and had just recently started to do some renovations outside the house for his mother. Losing a child while trying to continue to work so the bills don’t pile up is not only difficult, it is unfair.
When the KIIS 1065 radio station learned about this terribly tragic situation they decided to do something about it on the Kyle and Jackie O morning radio show.
Their plan was to set up a hidden camera in Michelle’s car while she was driving with her three children. The video below is when they were telling her story on the air and Michelle doesn’t seem to think they are talking about her until they call her by name.
She is then told with help the from Clarendon Homes, her house mortgage payment would be paid on her behalf for 6 months. She was also told she would receive $5,000 to allow her to finish the renovations her son had started in memory of him.
Once the public heard this story they wanted to help too, so a GoFundMe account was set up so people could donate. A modest goal of $5,000 was set, but at the time of this writing 219 people have donated a total of $8,265 in 12 days.
No amount of money could ever take away the pain of losing a child, but it can definitely help relieve the monetary stress while the family tries to stay strong and grieve for Blaine.
